Want to volunteer with white lions in Africa? This is the opportunity you have been looking for!
Volunteer World International are exceptionally proud to be able offer our volunteers the amazing opportunity to visit South Africa and play a hugely important role in the ongoing preservation of White Lions, now technically extinct in the wild. Owing to this fact alone, this program offers volunteers a truly one-of-a-kind opportunity for visitors to see and work with the White Lions and assist the White Lion Trust (WLT) with their ongoing commitment to ensuring the survival of this iconic species…
The long term and primary objective of the WLT program is the re-establishment and protection of White Lions in their natural wild habitat within their endemic area – the Greater Timbavati region of South Africa. To achieve this goal, the WLT draws on years of experience, understanding and far reaching protocols to ensure preservation and conservation can be achieved in a sustainable manner, now, and for many years to come with substantial emphasis placed on community participation, education and cultural upliftment.
Volunteer World International in conjunction with The WLT offers an exclusive opportunity for suitable candidates to volunteer or intern with the White Lion Conservation Project and thus play an integral role in achieving the survival of this amazing species. Successful candidates will be trained as active members of the conservation monitoring and research team and thus go far beyond just members of a student/volunteer program leading to a hugely rewarding and memorable stay. Due to the ever changing needs of the project, dynamic and adaptable candidates have a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience whilst making a valuable contribution to the long-term conservation of the White Lions.
For anyone wanting to volunteer with lions in Africa, this truly is a premier opportunity to make a genuine long term difference to support this critically endangered species.
PLEASE NOTE: THE WHITE LION TRUST PROJECT OPERATES A STRICT POLICY OF NO CONTACT WITH THE LIONS, NO CUB PETTING OR WALKING WITH THE LIONS IS PERMITTED. LIONS THAT HAVE BECOME HUMAN HABITUATED OR IMPRINTED CANNOT BE RETURNED TO THE WILD.
In conjunction with the Global White Lion Protection Trust, Volunteer World International are proud to offer volunteers the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to contribute to the ongoing survival of the enigmatic White Lion, undoubtedly one of the planets most beautiful species and unfortunately, a species on the verge of extinction.
This program offers volunteers the one of a kind opportunity to view these animals in the wild and contribute heavily towards their ongoing preservation, if this isn’t enough reason though to visit us here, check out the some more of the amazing experiences available to all volunteers choosing to book with the White Lion Conservation Program!
A perfect bush setting, stunning location and hugely beneficial and rewarding experiences make this an absolute must for any volunteer with a passion for big cats and the genuine conservation of their ongoing preservation!
Volunteer World International are hugely proud to be associated with and to be in a position to offer our volunteers the opportunity to visit and work closely with the Global White Lion Protection Trust (WLT) to assist in their ongoing efforts to protect and preserve the future of the critically endangered White Lion.
Volunteers are invited to become a part of this serious conservation initiative currently undertaking pioneering approaches to achieve their goals on both scientific and cultural fronts with keen focusses on both community education and upliftment. The volunteer program itself focuses in particular on learning more regarding the resident White Lions resident at the reserve to further understand how wild population numbers can be successfully grown thus saving this critically endangered species and in the process offers incoming volunteers the genuine potential for life changing experiences and a deepened sense of values and personal growth.
The reserve though is not just home to lion, other species that may be seen during your stay include Impala, Wildebeest, Giraffe, Warthog, Duiker, Steenbok, Porcupine, Serval, Leopard, Spotted Hyena, Monkeys, Baboons, Nyala amongst many others that roam the land freely with the occasional sighting of Cheetah and even African Wild Dogs or ‘Painted Wolves’! Indeed the volunteer camp is situated in the midst of the land where 2 white lion males and 1 tawny lioness roam freely in this most stunning of real African Bush settings.
Day to day activities at the program are as varied as the sightings of the animals you may see and occur during an average 6 day working week (Sundays are rest days) – you will never have the opportunity to be bored with a range of activities that may include any of the below:
1. Lion Monitoring
2. Habitat Management
3. Scientific Research
4. Community Development
An important part of the projects protocols is working with the local communities to provide education and upliftment which features as an integral part of the core volunteer program, an element that leaves a mark on nearly all visitors. Regular visits to local communities and schools are made as part of your stay and offers a massively rewarding addition to the experience that is sure to tug at the heartstrings of even the most ‘child-wary’ volunteer!
So, with a perfect African Bush setting, variety of stimulating activities, the opportunity to become involved in some of the most beneficial work being undertaken by any organisation anywhere in the world, the chance to join this amazing project is surely one that is not to be missed…!
